India today is at the threshold of what is popularly coined as “demographic transition”, a journey that has beenwalked by the developed economies of the world. By 2025 India is expected to have 65% of its populace in the working age bracket to translate to around 95 crore people.
The ministry is responsible for coordination of all skill development efforts across the country, increasing demand and supply of skilled manpower, skill up-gradation, and building of new skills along with innovative thinking for existing jobs and jobs that are to be created.
National Skill Development Agency (NSDA),National Skill Development Fund (NSDF),and 33 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) as well as 187 training partners are registered with NSDC. Virtual Global Education Limited (VGEL) is working with a number of State Governments to implement their Skill development initiatives.
